On Wednesday, 15 June, the Permanent Population Committee (PPC) held its first regular meeting for 2022 after being reconstituted.
The meeting was inaugurated with a word by HE Dr. Saleh M. Al-Nabit, President of the Planning and Statistics Authority and Chairman of the Permanent Population Committee, where he welcomed the attendees and congratulated the new members of the PPC, wishing that they will contribute to the work process of the PPC to achieve its objectives.
In this context, His Excellency extended his thanks and gratitude to the former members of the PPC for performing their duties to the fullest, which had a great impact in achieving many objectives.
This was followed by a discussion of the agenda items, where His Excellency presented to the members of the PPC the Cabinet Resolution No. (1) of 2022 on amending some provisions of Resolution No. (11) of 2009 on reorganizing the Permanent Population Committee, and Resolution of the President of the Planning and Statistics Authority No. (19) of 2022 on nominating a president, vice-president and members of the Permanent Population Committee.
The meeting reviewed the results of Phase 5 (November 2021-October 2022) of the follow-up of the implementation of Qatar's Second Population Policy (2017-2022), in addition to a brief report on the participation of the PPC in the 55th Session of the Commission on Population and Development of the ECOSOC which was held in New York in the last week of April 2022.
The attendees, then, discussed what has been implemented so far of the 2022 Work Plan of the Technical Office of the PPC. The PPC took note of the work progress related to the society's opinion poll on issues of the population policy, which is being implemented online by the PPC in cooperation with the PSA.
At the end of the meeting, HE President of the Planning and Statistics Authority and Chairman of the PPC thanked the attendees, wishing them all success with their new responsibilities as members of the Permanent Population Committee.
