The objectives of the study:
The study aims at addressing the urban population growth trends in the state of Qatar as well as the problems arising from theses trends and policies and strategies proposed for facing the problems.
The study components cover three major chapters; chapter (1) addresses the contemporary urban population growth, while Chapter (2) covers most of the major problems resulting from urban population growth and migration. The third chapter deals with subjects related to policies and urban region strategies. It addresses topics connected to urban population strategies shaped by pillars related to descriptive and estimated analytical processes as well as to visionary aspects.
The study also highlights the general determinants of population policies and national urban areas strategies and their future dimensions.

 
 

Determinants & Implications of Population Structure.

The objectives of the study:
The study aims at examining the impact of foreign immigrants on population structure and the potential solution for future mitigation, through the following:
  • Analyzing the determinants of population structure and population defect resulted from dual population structure: citizen - expatriate workers.
  • Diagnosing the current situation of foreign workers and the actual need for the size and characteristics of expatriate workers.
  • Observing the demographic, economic and social impact on population structure.
  • Future shape of population structure and the possible challenges facing nationalization policies.
  • Possible solutions to curb negative aspects in population structure.

The objectives of the study:
The study aims at highlighting policies and procedures proposed to be adopted for creating balance in the labour market in Qatar, and the employment of Qatari citizen, through a range of objective including the following:
 
  1. Full employment of Qatari nationals.
  2. Assist in developing an integrated Qatarization policy.
  3. Identify the labour market requirements, including professional categories, necessary for developing the plan.
  4.  Provide data and information on manpower and labour market.

The objectives of the study:
The study aims to foster consideration and discussion of policy options concerning the methods of empowering and integrating some categories in the society, considered as societal categories that comprise elements of local community. The study suggests that the human development would result in numerous benefits gained by the family, as it maintains cohesion citizen has attracted significantly more attention than social cohesion/integration, despite the two being intrinsically linked. The targeted categories are:

  2. Youth.
  3. Elderly.
  4. Persons with special needs.
  5. Talented and creative individuals.

The objectives of the study:
The study aims to provide information and core indicators necessary for establishing development decisions: population policies for optimum utilization of human and economic resources on scientific principles. The significance of statistics – as an objective science of measurement and estimation – is considered an important tool for judgment and contemplation in development of policies and designing appropriate decisions, such significance has made statistics a key in developing scientific strategic plans. The statistics has attracted great deal of attention from the state since the establishment of Central Statistical Authority in 1980, as it plays a key role in providing information and latest indicators based on international standards, classifications and concepts, which enables users to obtain accurate, objective and comparable statistics viable for different purposes, including development of future analysis, studies, strategies and plans.

The objectives of the study:
The study aims at introducing a new concept of human development, considered as a result of interaction of various factors and inputs that aim at creating efficient effects on human and social levels to increase available options for attaining the objectives and aspiration of the general and reproductive health in Qatar in an attempt to identify the challenges facing the country and propose the required strategy to address the situation.
 

 
 

Qatar's Population: Past, Present & Future

The objectives of the study:
  •  "Size, growth rate and distribution of population"; based on the total population of Qatar between 1950-2004, the proportion of urban population and distribution of Qatari population by areas.
  •  Population Dynamics; elements of demographic transition, including death, fertility rates and migration.
  •  Age structure; in terms of the reduction of young people, increase of the elderly and dependency ratio among Qatari population.
  •  General and Reproductive Health; health care indicators and efforts made in this respect.
  •  Education, Training and Human Resources Development; Improvement of the quantitative aspect of education, the quality- related problems, curricula and consistency between education output and labour market needs.
  •  Manpower Planning; in terms of the manpower growth rates between 1987 and 2004.
  •  Women's Empowerment; gender equality, integration of women's issues in the population strategies and policies, youth empowerment and integration of the elderly in the community.
  •  Future Vision; Four priorities were set in the study, namely are:
     (1) Inter-correlation between the population and development fundamental issues
     (2) capacity building
     (3) fostering partnership between national, regional and international organizations and
     (4) increasing awareness among the people.
