PPC holds the 2nd Meeting of Population Policy Focal Points


 

 

The Permanent Population Committee (PPC) will hold a meeting for the focal points representatives nominated by their agencies to coordinate with the PPC the implementation fellow up of the population policy. Some 60 senior government officials have been invited to attend the meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday June 4.

Senior official at the PPC said the PPC Chairman, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jabor Al Thani, will address the opening session, followed by Committee's Deputy Chairman, Dr. Hassan Al Mohannadi, who will deliver presentation on phases involved in finalization of the population policy, latest highlights, PPC-related issues and the role of focal points in designing the population policy, its implementation and fellow up.
 

The meeting comes as part of the PPC's efforts in incorporating population policy objectives and programs into all government agencies, creating quality of life for the community and achieving higher development level, which require close interaction between different agencies and institutions through the focal points, while the PPC's Technical Bureau serves as liaison entity in during the coordination processes.

The population policy proposals, prepared by the PPC in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and several government agencies, have recently been submitted to higher authorities for approval.
